More Hurricane Pictures

Here is a picture of some metal from a roof that floated into this tree when the flood water came in to downtown Mobile. The other is a power pole that fell on the roof of a grocery store on Broad Street.

These photos are some that I saved from various sites on the internet. I have to say the pictures from New Orleans and Biloxi are heart breaking. Here on the Gulf Coast we in a lot of ways are like on big city no matter what state we are from. I feel like it is my city when I see these pictures.

Hurricane Katrina

Well we got power back around 1pm this afternoon. Most people still don't have power. The people across the street from us don't even have power back. In downtown Mobile there was not a lot of damage but a lot of debris and a good many trees are down. We had a lot of shingles blow off of our house so I will be calling the insurance company. A pipe fell on my truck and scratched it but it is not enought to claim on insurance so that really sucks. Other than that we had a mess to clean up in the yard but we faired really well. Luke and I took a drive down around some of the Mardi Gras float barns this morning and some of the had damage.

This is the debris that came out of my yard.

This is a street downtown in the warehouse district. The water came up about 5 blocks or so in that area.

This is one of the Mystics of Time float barns. The doors on both barns were blown of and mangled.

Here is the other MOT barn.

The Comic Cowboy's barn sustained substantial damage. The front doors were twisted and mangled and one whole side of the barn was torn off.

The Mystic Stripers barn doors on their old barn were shifted but it doesn't look like there was a lot of damage.

Getting windy

This is video I took during the storm but it really does not show the force of the winds at that point. We were getting wind gusts at this point up to around 100 mph.
