WBC Brunch

My social group the WBC met this morning for brunch at one our favorite places TP Crockmiers. We talked, laughed and generally just had great fun. We partied there for about three or more hours and then a few of us decided to continue the party at a little know place that we found several months ago. These are the best ladies and we always have a large time when we get together.

Shriner's Parade

I love a parade, any parade. On Saturday Gavin and I went downtown to see the Southeastern conference Shriner's parade. It was cool outside when we arrived but got really hot quickly. The parade began on time and it was very interesting. They used a partial parade route and the parade was so big that the begining met the end. I know I was at least a couple units sneak around twice. This was probably the longest parade I have ever watched. We secured our usual spot on Church Street at the beginning of the route and it took over three hours for the whole parade to pass us. At one point a few units weren't paying attention and went the wrong way. I guess when they got to the end of the street and couldn't get through they decided to turn around. There were people from Alabama, Georgia and Florida that we saw. You could tell when the Mobile Chapter was coming because they are the only ones that threw candy and trinkets. All in all the conventioneers and locals all seemed to enjoy the procession.

    Police Chief Convention

On Monday Toy called me and told me that I was parading Wendsday night. There was a police chief convention in town and they wanted to have a short little parade to give the out of towners a taste of Mobile Mardi Gras. It was last minute so there were several people making phone calls to find anyone who had a costume handy to come down and participate. Two floats from two different Mardi Gras societies were used. There was one group of ladies that walked throught the pavillion and handed out beads prior to the parade. My dad 'Chief Slacabamarinico" lead the parade in one of the Jacees cars. We circled the parking lot of Battleship Park twice. It was really short and hot but I think the crowd liked it. At the end the driver made the mistake of pulling the floats up next to each other and a bead fight between all the rider broke out and went on for about 10 minutes. I think that was the best part of the parade. Afterwards a lot of us just hung around in the parking lot and drank. The jacees had a go cart and several people including my son got to ride it in the parking lot. After about an hour we changed clothes and went to Biloti's for more drinks and socializing. It was really late before I got home.
